Supplier Diversity Philosophy
Kaiser Permanente’s National Supplier Diversity philosophy is to engage the talents and services of small and diverse suppliers and leverage Kaiser Permanente’s buying power to make a sustainable impact on the total health of the communities we serve.
Kaiser Permanente was the first health care provider and health plan in the nation to be inducted into the Billion Dollar Roundtable (BDR®). The BDR® mission is "to drive supplier diversity excellence through best practice sharing and thought leadership."
Kaiser Permanente’s policy is to proactively support the involvement of small and diverse suppliers that demonstrate a commitment to meeting our high standards of excellence.
The Tier II program serves as an enhancement to our existing efforts aimed at increasing "direct" (Tier 1) opportunities for small and diverse suppliers. Prime vendors are required to report their procurement diversity activity on a quarterly basis and this is a material provision of the vendor relationship with Kaiser Permanente.
